Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig September 21 1983) is an American actress who is best recognized for her performances as Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television series Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace was born in Worthington in Ohio, left high school in order to move to Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. Though she struggled financially in 2001, her debut came as Rachel's Room's principal character. In 2002 she was nominated to receive an Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murdered Martha Moxley. Grace appeared as Shannon Rutherford on the Lost television show in 2004. She is part of the Gyllenhaal family and is the older sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. She began her career as a teenager with small parts in a few of the films of her father and starred together with her brother in popular cult film Donnie Darko (2001). Her subsequent roles included Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind which was released in 2002 as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as the lead of Secretary (2002) as well as in Sherrybaby (2006), which is an erotic romantic drama and Sherrybaby (2006). Gyllenhaal debuted as a director and writer in 2021, with her drama about psychological issues The Lost Daughter. For this movie, she received the Best Screenplay Award at the Venice International Film Festival and received nominations for the Academy Award.
